Robert rushed for 2,258 yards and 36 touchdowns on 242 carries as a junior at Homewood and led his team to the Class 5A state title game where they lost 36-24 to Blount. He followed that up by gaining 2,432 yards his senior season. In his four year career at Homewood he rushed for 6,542 yards on 904 carries which was a new state record. He also scored 87 touchdowns which was three behind the state record.
Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History
Collinsville completed the 1931 season with a record of 1-4-5. The five ties will forever be a state record since all games are now decided by overtime.
