Campbell rushed for more than 2,000 yards in three straight seasons for the Valley Cubs. He set a state record his junior season with 37 touchdowns. As a senior he gained 2,582 yards, 2,220 yards with 36 touchdowns as a junior and 2,006 yards with 35 touchdowns as a sophomore. He ended his career with 9,825 yards rushing on 1,227 attempts and 153 touchdowns. All were state records.
Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History
Luverne 'Toad' Wise was the first female football player in Alabama and may have been the first in the country. She was a kicker for the Escambia County Blue Devils in 1939-40.
