Swain caught 52 passes for 743 yards and nine touchdowns as senior despite missing two games late in season with injury. As a junior, he amassed more than 700 yards of total offense and scored 10 times. He had breakthrough sophomore campaign, during which he caught 94 passes for 1,127 yards and 17 touchdowns. Jayson was the first player in Alabama history to make 6A All-State as freshman after catching 61 passes for 783 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Alabama School for the Deaf won Deaf School National Championships in 1971, 1987, 1991, 2000, 2001 and 2002.
