Ward Alexander Jr., fullback from Evergreen High is a punting, passing four-year varsity football man. He was captain of his squad two years, All-State 1953 and 54, and won the D. T. Stuart Sportsman Trophy in 1954. Wards other sports include baseball and basketball. In 1953 Ward made 11 touchdowns, netting 943 yards for an average of 8.2 yards; in 1954 he averaged 40 yards in punts; 8 touchdowns, and netted 716 yards for an average of 9 yards.
Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History
In 1970 Monroe Academy won the first championship in the A.I.S.A. by defeating Lowndes Academy 6-0.
