High School Bio:
Julio caught 68 passes for 1,181 yards and 16 touchdowns as a senior at Foley. He caught 51 passes for 805 yards and 8 touchdowns as a sophomore and followed that up with 75 catches for 1,299 yards and 15 touchdowns as a junior. As a senior Jones led the Lions to a 12-1 record and a Region 2 title before losing to Prattville in class 6A state quarterfinals.
His career totals were 202 catches for 3,383 yards and 40 touchdowns. He also added three rushing touchdowns, two kick return touchdowns, two punt returns and two fumble returns for scores during his career for the Lions.
He set Foley school records for career receptions, receiving yards, receiving touchdowns and total touchdowns. He also holds the top three single season receiving records at Foley with 75 receptions (2006), 68 receptions (2007) and 51 catches (2005).
He was one of the most recruited players ever from the state and ranked as the number one college prospect by some sources.
Julio was named as "Mr. Football" in the state of Alabama following his senior season. He was a Parade All-American and a USA Today All-American. He was named the Gatorade Player of the Year in 2007, EA Sports first-team All-American and a two-time All-American by Rivals.com (2006 and 2007). Scout.com selected him as an All-American in 2007.
Jones was a Birmingham News and Alabama Sportswriters Association 6A All-State selection both his junior and senior seasons. The Birmingham News named him to the Super All-State Team. He was also named to 2007 ASWA Super 12 All-State team.
Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History
Morris Higginbotham coached three different teams to divisional state championships in the 1950s. He won titles at Walnut Grove in 1952, West Blocton in 1955 and Enterprise in 1960.
