Max Burleson, 165-pound halfback from Hackleburg High School, played football with the North squad All-Stars in 1955. His athletic honors include All-State AA, and All-Tri-County; he was also captain of his team in 1954. Maxs other sports included basketball and baseball. He played varsity football four years and his specialty was passing and running, Grid statistics; scored 8 touchdowns running arid completed 10 passes for touchdowns; threw 75 passes and completed 40. John Hall coached this versatile athlete.
Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History
Homewood defeated Benjamin Russell in five overtimes during the Class 5A Super Six state championship game in 2000.
