            Flowers was named All-conference, all- state, and All-American High School 1955-55. Basketball All conference. His other sport was track. He played two years varsity football. Specialty: blocking (downfield), defense.

In 1969 the two point conversion was adopted for play following a touchdown. Until that time all conversions were worth one point.
