            Hurt was named alternate captain 1954-55; vice-president of W Club; All-City teams of 1953-55; All-State teams of 1954 and 1955. His other sport was track. He played four years varsity football, captain of squad two years; his specialty was hand-off, defense, and kick-off. Grid statistics: senior season - 84 carries for 699 yards, 8.3 per carry average, 8 punts for a 39.3 average.
