OSteen was selected as the most valuable lineman in the state by the Post Herald. He was listed on the first team of every all state team. His athletic honors include All-Calhoun County, All-State, All-Southern and All-America. His other sports are basketball and track. He played varsity football two years; was captain of his squad one year. Punting was his specialty. Grid statistics: 23 passes attempted, 13 completed for 266 yards; rushing 1,077 yards for 9.0 average returned kick for 4S6 yards during the 1955 season.
