            Holmes was named All-County two years. He played varsity football four years, served as captain, and lettered in basketball, baseball and track three years each. He averaged eight yards per carry for three years.

In 1969 the two point conversion was adopted for play following a touchdown. Until that time all conversions were worth one point.
