            Beard was named All-County two Years, All-State, Honorable Mention All-Southern. He also participated in basketball and track. He played three years as football regular and handled all place kicking duties. He booted 21 of 28 conversion attempts as a senior.

Clay County shutout an amazing eleven opponents in 1996. The Panthers outscored their opponents 613-42 finishing the season 15-0.
