            Box was named All-Tri-Cities; All-Tennessee Valley Conference and All-State football;-All-Tri-Cities, All-Tennessee Valley Conference and All-Seventh District in basketball; All-State in baseball. He played varsity football three years, captained the team and sparkled in pass catching and defense. He caught seven passes, three for touchdowns.

In 1970 Monroe Academy won the first championship in the A.I.S.A. by defeating Lowndes Academy 6-0.
