            Beard was named All-County two years, All-State, Honorable Mention on All-Southern and All-America teams… Also fine baseball player… Scored 17 touchdowns; gained 1,520 yards in 150 carries, averaging 10.1 yards per try.




Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History

The first night game played between high school teams in the state occurred on September 23, 1927 when Pike Road and Cloverdale met in the Cramton Bowl in Montgomery.
