          The 2009 Daphne Trojans struggled through the regular season with a 4-6 record before getting hot in the playoffs to win two games before losing in the quarter-finals to Auburn. This year's team returns nine starters on offense and another eight on the defensive side of the football on a roster of 85 players.

          Quarterback Russ Moseley passed for 1,700 yards last year and returns for his senior season. T.J. Yeldon also returns for his junior year after rushing for 1,100 yards on 205 carries. A pair of experienced senior receivers also will be on the field in Israel Lamprakes (46 catches, 620 yards) and Justin Jackson (41, 605).

          The defense returns linebacker Michael Pierce (85 tackles) along with plenty of talent to to slow down the opponent's offenses. The Trojans open the 2010 season unranked in the ASWA polls.

          Israel Lamprakes rushed for 126 yards, scored on a 63-yard pass from quarterback Russ Mosley and raced 60 yards with a punt return to set up another score as the Trojans opened the season with a 42-11 rout of Alma Bryant on the road. The Trojan offense rolled up 538 yards of offense as they broke open a close 21-11 game in the second half.

  Baldwin County 0   0   0   0   0  

          The Trojans moved to 2-0 by shutting out the Baldwin County Tigers 42-0 in week two. T.J. Yeldon ran for two scores and caught a 34-yard touchdown pass from Mosley as the Trojans raced out to a 35-0 halftime lead. Torren McGaster raced 50 yards on a punt return in the third quarter to wrap up the scoring.

          The offense rolled up 341 yards including 127 yards rushing by Tyrell Holloway and 62 yards by Yeldon. The offense collect 290 of those yards in the first half alone. The defense shut down the Tigers and held them to just 97 total yards for the game.

          Russ Mosley scored on a quarterback sneak from one yard out with 1:14 left in the third quarter to give the Trojans a 17-13 win over the Foley Lions at Jubilee Stadium. T.J. Yeldon rushed for 94 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries and Tyrell Holloway added 87 yards on 14 carries for the Trojans.

          The No. 9 Daphne Trojans used a 67 yard punt return by Israel Lamprakes and a stingy defense to shutout the Williamson Lions 24-0 in week four. The Trojans amassed 160 yards on 14 penalties to keep the game closer than it should have been.

          Tyrell Holloway rushed for 76 yards on 19 carries and a touchdown, and Russ Mosley completed 7-of-15 passes for 100 yards. The defense collected three turnovers including two second half interceptions.

          In week five, the Trojans thumped Theodore 38-6 in a game that was closer than the score indicated. After leading only 10-6 after the first quarter, Daphne score 28 unanswered points to pull away. The Trojan defense held the Bobcats to just 39 yards rushing while the defense forced four turnovers.

  Daphne 16   7   14   0   37  

          Daphne played without star running back T.J. Yeldon and quarterback Russ Mosley but as it turned out they did not need them as they routed the Satsuma Gators 37-7 at Jubilee Stadium. Lamprakes scored twice and backup quarterback T.J. Fleeton threw a 42-yard touchdown strike to Johnathan McGaster to pace the depleted offense.

           The Trojans jumped out to a 16-0 first quarter lead and led 37-7 by the end of the third quarter.

  Robertsdale 0   0   7   7   14  

          By week seven the Daphne Trojans had moved up to No. 3 in the ASWA poll and showed why they deserved the ranking by throttling Robertsdale 43-14 on the road. The offense pounded out 306 yards rushing behind Tyrell Holloway's 160 yards on 6 carries, including non-scoring runs of 62 and 68 yards.

          Zack Houston returned an interception 25 yards for a touchdown, and Yeldon added a 3-yard scoring run for a 36-0 halftime lead. Yeldon also raced 67 yards for a third quarter TD.


  Fairhope 0   7   7   0   14  
  Daphne 0   14   14   0   28  

           Tyrell Holloway retuned a kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown after Fairhope had cut the lead to 21-14 in the third quarter to help the Trojans defeat the Pirates 28-14 before the home crowd. Fairhope took a 7-0 lead in the second quarter before Daphne came back to score three unanswered touchdowns for a 21-7 lead in the third.

          Yeldon rushed for 116 yards on 15 carries and a 30-yard touchdown run. He caught a 20-yard TD pass as the Trojans outscored McGill-Toolen 43-21 in week nine of the regular season. The Trojans scored on five of their six first half possessions to take a 34-7 halftime lead.

            Russ Mosley threw three second quarter scoring passes to break open the game. He finished the nigh completing 7-of-12 passes for 129 yards in the first half alone.

  Baker 0   0   0   0   0  

          The Daphne Trojans capped off a perfect 10-0 regular season with a 48-0 dismantling of the Baker Hornets in Mobile. The Trojans scored on their first seven possessions and led 41-0 at intermission. The offense rolled up 376 yards while the defense completely shut down the Hornets all evening. Baker had 136 yards of offense but much of that came against the reserves.

  Daphne 13   17   0   10   40  

          Daphne jumped out to a 30-0 halftime lead and held on for a 40-24 win over Blount to win in the opening round of the playoffs in 2010. Tyrell Holloway rushed for 184 yards on 18 carries and scored a touchdown to lead the Trojans. Yeldon added 81 yards on 12 carries and caught a touchdown pass.

          Blount made it interesting but cutting the lead to 30-16 before Russ Mosley hit Yeldon on a 9-yard scoring pass to pad the lead to 40-16 late in the fourth quarter. The Leopards scored late in the game after the outcome was already determined.

  Daphne 7   13   20   0   41  

          In a rematch of their early season game, Daphne defeated the Foley Lions 41-13 behind a stingy defense in the second half and an offense that scored 20 points in the third period to put the game out of reach.

          The Trojans finished with 306 yards behind the running of Yeldon who rushed for 158 yards on 18 carries. Holloway added 108 yards on 19 carries. The Trojans jumped out to a 20-0 lead before Foley came back to cut it to 20-13 at the half. From there it was all Daphne as they held Foley in check the rest of the game. The Lions managed just 61 yards of offense in the second half.

          The Daphne Trojans registered their fourth shutout of the season as the rolled over Wetumpka in the second round of the playoffs. The Indians had four chances to score but each time the Trojan defense rose up the stop them in the red zone. Tyrell Holloway rushed for 187 yards and two touchdowns while T.J. Yeldon added 184 yards of offense tow more touchdowns.

          The Trojans took a 9-0 lead into intermission as Yeldon caught a 68-yard touchdown pass from Mosley with 38 seconds left in the second period. Yeldon scored on a 40-yard run in the third to up the lead to 16-0 and for all practical purposes the game was over. Holloway added a 60-yard run in the fourth. The Trojans finished with 318 yards rushing on 47 attempts.

  Daphne 13   20   7   7   47  

          Quarterback Russ Mosley completed 9-of-16 passes for 224 yards and five touchdowns as the Trojans defeated Davidson 47-14 in the semi-finals. Torrean McGaster intercepted Davidson first pass attempt and returned it 54 yards for a touchdown and a 7-0 lead. Mosley tossed touchdown passes to Yeldon, Holloway and Justin Jackson in the first half to give Daphne a 33-0 lead.

           The defense held the Warriors to 32 yards and two first downs in the first half as the Trojans built their huge lead. The win sent the Trojans to Auburn to face the ever tough Hoover Bucs for the Class 6A state championship.

          The defense played lights out all night as the Daphne Trojans came from behind to defeat Hoover 7-6 in a game dominated by the defenses. T.J. Yeldon scored from one-yard out in the fourth quarter, Brandon Roberts tacked on the go ahead extra point and the Trojans defeated the Bucs.

           Hoover took a 6-0 lead in the first quarter on a 47-yard pass from Ryan Carter to Reginald Johnson. The extra point attempt was wide right. Between that score and the fourth quarter, both teams missed opportunities to score. Fumbles in the red zone, missed field goal and penalties kept both teams off the scoreboard.

          Yeldon score on a one-yard run with 10:57 to play to give Daphne a 7-6 lead. Hoover came back to reach the Trojans 1-yard line but a missed field goal kept the Bucs from taking the lead. Linebacker Michael Pierce, who was named the game MVP, made 10 tackles to anchor the defense.
