J.B. McClendon
J.B. McClendon was a graduate of Jackson County High School (Scottsboro) and Birmingham Southern College. He played football and basketball for four years in high school as well as baseball for two seasons. Following graduation he embarked upon a coaching career that spanned the next 35 years. McClendon spent 22 of those years as a coach at nine different schools.
His 1942 Huntsville team finished the season 8-0-1. The 1949 Hamilton team went 9-1 in his final year at the school.
During his coaching career his football teams compiled a 108-72 record at seven different schools. He is best known for his very successful high school basketball coaching career. His 1958 Fayette County team won a state championship.
Coach McClendon was inducted into the Birmingham Southern Hall of Fame in 1990.
McClendon coached in both the basketball and football all-star games in Tuscaloosa. He was inducted into the Alabama High School Athletic Associations Hall of Fame in 1993.

Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History
Parrish scored a record 77 points in a playoff game against Cedar Bluff in 2001. The Tornados were shutout the following week 19-0 by Courtland.
