Shaun Bonds is a native of Greensboro, Alabama and graduated from Greensboro High School and the University of Alabama. Bonds began his coaching career back in 1976 at Wacoochee Junior High School. In 1986 he returned home by accepting the head coaching job at Greensboro. In four seasons at his alma mater, Bonds went 36-12 with an undefeated regular season in 1989. He spent one season at Valley High School before coming back to west Alabama at Demopolis in 1991. His three teams at Demopolis went 17-16 with two playoff appearances. In 1994 he moved back east to Smiths Station High School where he remained for eight years. His teams finished 55-35 at Smiths Station making the playoffs the first four years he was there. His 1996 team finished 10-0 in the regular season before falling in the third round of the playoffs. Following the 2001 season, Coach Bonds took over the football program at Southern Academy. For the next eleven years, Coach Bonds teams won 95 games and lost only 36. He won four consecutive AISA State Championships between 2004-2007. Those teams finished a combined 49-2. |
