Oxford Yellow Jackets
W.R. McKinzey
W.R. McKinzey began his coaching career at D.A.R. School in 1934. He moved to Aliceville in 1937 and served as a teacher and coach until 1940. He worked with Piedmont, Guntersville and Oxford schools from 1940-49.
He returned to Aliceville in 1950 as the head football coach. McKinzey remained with the program for the next ten seasons before stepping down as the head coach following the 1959 season. His overall coaching record is incomplete by stands at 77-53-10 for the games that have been researched.
McKinzey became principal at Brent Elementary in 1960 and served there until 1967 when he was elevated to superintendent of education.
Coach McKinzey retired following the 1970-71 school year as the Bibb County superintendent of education. The long time coach moved back to Albertville following his retirement. His brother, Adrian, was a longtime head coach at Tuscaloosa County High School.
