I have search everywhere for the coach of these teams. I didn't get a straightforward answer however I think I figured it out. I am pretty sure the coach was Gary Fleming. Here is why I say that.

Back in 2004, Fleming came out of a 20 year retirement from coaching to coach Ashville (Gadsden Times). His last year at BCS would have been 1984. So there is your 20 years.

In The 2012 Over The Mountain Journal football preview, it had a history section where it said Fleming was the coach at an "over the mountain school" in 1978 which would be his 1st year at BCS. Briarwood is the only OTM school that is missing a coach for that year.

Fleming is also listed as being the BCS boys basketball coach for 2 years so he does have a history with the school

So with that being said, it can be inferred that Fleming was the coach from 1978 to 1984

Good find. I went through the Briarwood yearbooks I could find online and discovered that Gary Fleming was definitely the head coach in 1979 and 1982. Richard Mulfroy was the head coach in 1978. Those are for certain. The remaining years we can assume he was the coach from the articles you reference.

I also picked up a few basketball and other sports coaches too.

Thanks
