 2016 Preview 


       Last year Oak Mountain finished fifth in Class 7A region 3 with a 3-4 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

       Since 2010, Oak Mountain has gone a combined 30-33. Their 48.0% winning percentage ranks 19th in Class 7A over the past six seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Oak Mountain has managed to compile a record of 82-95. Their 46.0% winning percentage ranks 25th in Class 7A and 224th in the AHSAA.

       The Eagles are led by head coach Cris Bell who is entering his fourth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 26-17 over the past four seasons at Oak Mountain. Under his direction the Eagles have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Bell.

       Coach Bell's overall record as a head football coach in four seasons stands at 26-17 (60.5%). Over the course of his career, Coach Bell's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times .

      

      The Oak Mountain Eagles will play in Class 7A region 3 during the 2016 season.

       The Eagles have a good chance to earn one of the playoff slots for Region 3 this season.

       The Eagles open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Chelsea on Friday, August 19 at Heardmont Park Sportsplex/Eagle Stadium. Last year the Chelsea Hornets finished with an overall record of 7-4 and in third place in Class 6A region 3. The Hornets lost in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs to Blount by a score of 41-28.

       Oak Mountain and Chelsea have met a total of 12 times on the football field. The Eagles have a 9-3-0 record against the Hornets. They last met in 2023 with Chelsea winning by a score of 21-13.

  








Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History

The Tuscaloosa Black Bears were considered one of the best programs in the nation from 1925-1931. Their record over that span was an amazing 61-0-3.
