Abbeville Christian completed the 2017 season with a 5-8 record. With their 2-2 region record and a third place finish in Class A region one, the Generals earned a spot in the playoffs in 2017. Last year Abbeville Christian reached the semi-finals before falling to a very good Chambers Academy team by the score of 14-6. The Generals lost as many games as in any season since 2010. Since 2010, Abbeville Christian has gone a combined 60-59. Their 50.0% winning percentage ranks 4th in Class A over the past eight seasons. Over the past 29 seasons, Abbeville Christian has managed to compile a record of 118-154. Their 43.0% winning percentage ranks 9th in Class A and 26th in the AISA. The Generals are led by head coach Ashley Carlisle who is entering his tenth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 62-46 over the past nine seasons at Abbeville Christian. Under his direction the Generals have qualified for the playoffs a total of seven times. They have won one region crown with Coach Carlisle. The Abbeville Christian Generals will play in Class A region one during the 2018 season. The Generals should be in contention for a playoff spot in region one this season. They will be looking to gain an advantage by hosting a first round postseason game. They have reached the playoffs every year since 2011 and will once again be in the hunt for a spot in 2018. The Generals open the 2018 season on the road against non-region opponent Northside Methodist Academy on Friday, August 24 at Northcutt Field. Last year the Northside Methodist Academy Knights finished with an overall record of 0-10 and in sixth place in Class AAA region two. Abbeville Christian and Northside Methodist Academy have met a total of 6 times on the football field. The Generals have a 5-1-0 record against the Knights. They last met in 2017 with Abbeville Christian winning by a score of 41-10. Abbeville Christian returns AISA All-State athlete Dre Newman. He was named to the second team last season.
