Hewitt-Trussville completed the 2017 season with a 11-1 record. The Huskies cruised through the regular season with a perfect 10-0 record going into the post season. Last year Hewitt-Trussville captured the region four title and a number one seed in the Class 7A playoffs. They finished region play with a 7-0 record. Hewitt-Trussville reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Hoover by a score of 56-21. The high-scoring Hewitt-Trussville offense ranked 7th in the AHSAA. They averaged 44.5 points a game. Over the past two seasons the Huskies have gone 22-2 and will be looking to continue that winning tradition. Since 2010, Hewitt-Trussville has gone a combined 59-31. Their 66.0% winning percentage ranks 9th in Class 7A over the past eight seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Hewitt-Trussville has managed to compile a record of 171-99. Their 63.0% winning percentage ranks 8th in Class 7A and 69th in the AHSAA. The Huskies are led by head coach Josh Floyd who is entering his fifth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 33-13 over the past four seasons at Hewitt-Trussville. Under his direction the Huskies have qualified for the playoffs a total of four times. They have won two region crowns with Coach Floyd. Coach Floyd's overall record as a head football coach in four season stands at 33-13 (71.7%). The Hewitt-Trussville Huskies will play in Class 7A region three during the 2018 season. Following realignment, the Huskies remain in 7A but move from region four over to region three. The Huskies have one of the toughest schedules in Class 7A. Their opponents had a combined record of 72-43 last season. That ranks 7th in Class 7A and 21st in the AHSAA. Region three will be one of the most competitive regions in any classification this season. The Huskies enter the 2018 season riding a 20 game regular season winning streak. The Huskies should be in contention for a playoff spot in region three this season. They will be looking to gain an advantage by hosting a first round postseason game. The Huskies open the 2018 season against non-region opponent Cedar Grove GA on Saturday, August 25 This will be the second meeting between Hewitt-Trussville and Cedar Grove GA on the football field. The Huskies have a 0-1-0 record against Cedar Grove GA. They last met in with Hewitt-Trussville returns 7A All-State kicker Parker Colburn. He was named to the first team last season. The Huskies also return quarterback Paul Tyson. He was named to the second team. The Huskies also return offensive lineman Pierce Quick. He was named to the first team.
