Morgan Academy completed the 2017 season with a 6-6 record. With their 3-2 region record and a second place finish in Class AAA region two, the Senators earned a spot in the playoffs in 2017. Last year Morgan Academy reached the semi-finals before falling to a very good Monroe Academy team by the score of 34-7. The Senators improved in 2017 with their first winning season since 2011. The Senators won as many games as in any season since 2011. It marked the first time since the 2011 season that the Senators qualified for the playoffs. Since 2010, Morgan Academy has gone a combined 37-49. Their 43.0% winning percentage ranks 8th in Class AAA over the past eight seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Morgan Academy has managed to compile a record of 176-100. Their 64.0% winning percentage ranks 3rd in Class AAA and 6th in the AISA. The Senators are led by head coach Josh Thacker who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 11-12 over the past two seasons at Morgan Academy. Under his direction the Senators have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Thacker. The Senators open the 2018 season on the road against non-region opponent Edgewood Academy on Friday, August 24 at Edgewood Stadium. The Wildcats closed out the regular season with a loss to Crenshaw Christian by a score of 55-28. Morgan Academy and Edgewood Academy have met a total of 15 times on the football field.
