 2018 Preview

Valley Head finished the 2017 season with a disappointing 2-6 record. Last year Valley Head just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 1A region six with a 1-4 region record.

The offense struggled putting points on the score board as Valley Head averaged scoring just 13.8 points a game.

The Tigers would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 4-12 record. Since 2010, Valley Head has gone a combined 32-45. Their 42.0% winning percentage ranks 37th in Class 1A over the past eight seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Valley Head has managed to compile a record of 94-150. Their 38.0% winning percentage ranks 42nd in Class 1A and 300th in the AHSAA.

The Tigers will be under the direction of new head football coach Heath Vincent as they enter the 2018 season.

The Valley Head Tigers will play in Class 1A region seven during the 2018 season. Following realignment, the Tigers remain in 1A but move from region six over to region seven.

It will be an uphill battle for the Tigers if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region seven this season. After just 2 wins last year, Valley Head will be hoping to become more competitive in the region.

The Tigers open the 2018 season on the road against non-region opponent Alabama School Deaf on Friday, August 31 at Kiwanis Field. Last year the Alabama School Deaf Silent Warriors finished with an overall record of 4-5 and in place in Class region seven.

Valley Head and Alabama School Deaf have met a total of 4 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 4-0-0 record against the Silent Warriors. They last met in 2017 with Valley Head winning by a score of 33-20.
