Bayside Academy completed the 2017 season with a 5-6 record. With their 4-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 3A region one, the Admirals earned a spot in the playoffs in 2017. Bayside Academy's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Montgomery Academy by a score of 26-13. Bayside Academy was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Admirals want to be competitive. They only averaged 16.7 points a game. Since 2010, Bayside Academy has gone a combined 63-36. Their 64.0% winning percentage ranks 14th in Class 3A over the past eight seasons. Over the past 17 seasons, Bayside Academy has managed to compile a record of 103-84. Their 55.0% winning percentage ranks 24th in Class 3A and 144th in the AHSAA. The Admirals are led by head coach Phil Lazenby who is entering his twelveth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 81-51 over the past eleven seasons at Bayside Academy. Under his direction the Admirals have qualified for the playoffs a total of nine times. They have won one region crown with Coach Lazenby. The Bayside Academy Admirals will play in Class 3A region one during the 2018 season. The Admirals will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region one this season. The Admirals open the 2018 season at home against non-region opponent St. James on Friday, August 24 at Freedom Field. Last year the St. James Trojans finished with an overall record of 8-4 and in second place in Class 4A region two. The Trojans lost in the second round of the Class 4A playoffs to Andalusia by a score of 30-8. Bayside Academy and St. James have met a total of 4 times on the football field.
