2018 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Chambers Academy completed the 2017 season with a 12-1 record. The Rebels cruised through the regular season with a perfect 10-0 record going into the post season. Last year Chambers Academy captured the region one title and a number one seed in the Class A playoffs. They finished region play with a 4-0 record. Last year the Chambers Academy Rebels reached the AISA-A State Championship game only to fall just short of claiming a title. They were defeated by Patrician Academy in the State Championship game 22-20 in Troy. No team at Chambers Academy ever won more games in a season than the twelve victories last year. Over the past two seasons the Rebels have gone 24-2 and will be looking to continue that winning tradition. Since 2010, Chambers Academy has gone a combined 56-37. Their 60.0% winning percentage ranks 2nd in Class A over the past eight seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Chambers Academy has managed to compile a record of 139-130. Their 52.0% winning percentage ranks 6th in Class A and 20th in the AISA. The Rebels are led by head coach Jason Allen who is entering his fourteenth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 92-59 over the past thirteen seasons at Chambers Academy. Under his direction the Rebels have qualified for the playoffs a total of ten times. They have won five region crowns with Coach Allen. Coach Allen's overall record as a head football coach in sixteen season stands at 113-74 (60.4%). His 113 wins rank 11th among active coaches in the AISA. Over the course of his career, Coach Allen's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of thirteen times and won five region championships. The Chambers Academy Rebels will play in Class A region two during the 2018 season. Following realignment, the Rebels remain in A but move from region one over to region two. The Rebels enter the 2018 season riding a 24 game regular season winning streak. Chambers Academy has won 11 consecutive region games. They have won 15 straight games on their home turf at Torbert Field. The Rebels should be considered one of the favorites for the region two championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs. The Rebels open the 2018 season at home against non-region opponent Evangel Christian Academy on Friday, August 24 at Torbert Field. Last year the Evangel Christian Academy Lions finished with an overall record of 1-9 and in fourth place in Class AA region one. The Lions closed out the regular season with a loss to Hooper Academy by a score of 53-12. Chambers Academy and Evangel Christian Academy have met a total of 5 times on the football field. The Rebels have a 3-2-0 record against the Lions. They last met in 2007 with Chambers Academy winning by a score of 44-12. Chambers Academy returns AISA All-State running back C.J. Lyons. He was named to the first team last season. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
