2018 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Lee-Scott Academy completed the 2017 season with a 6-5 record. With their 3-2 region record and a fourth place finish in Class AAA region one, the Warriors earned a spot in the playoffs in 2017. Lee-Scott Academy's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Monroe Academy by a score of 39-10. Since 2010, Lee-Scott Academy has gone a combined 54-34. Their 61.0% winning percentage ranks 4th in Class AAA over the past eight seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Lee-Scott Academy has managed to compile a record of 139-118. Their 54.0% winning percentage ranks 6th in Class AAA and 16th in the AISA. The Warriors are led by head coach Robert Maddox who is entering his thirteenth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 75-55 over the past twelve seasons at Lee-Scott Academy. Under his direction the Warriors have qualified for the playoffs a total of eight times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Maddox. Coach Maddox's overall record as a head football coach in twenty-three season stands at 148-111 (57.1%). His 148 wins rank 5th among active coaches in the AISA. Over the course of his career, Coach Maddox's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of eighteen times and won five region championships. Coach Maddox needs two wins this season to reach the 150 win milestone. The Lee-Scott Academy Warriors will play in Class AAA region one during the 2018 season. Lee-Scott Academy will face six opponents that reached the playoffs last season. Lee-Scott Academy enters the 2018 season with a string of 6 consecutive wins on their home field at Judd Scott Field. With a little luck and some improvement, the Warriors could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region one this season. Unfortunately, Lee-Scott Academy finds themselves in a very competitive region with other playoff quality teams. They may need to pull off an upset or two to have any shot at the postseason. The Warriors open the 2018 season at home against non-region opponent Fort Dale Academy on Friday, August 24 at Judd Scott Field. Last year the Fort Dale Academy Eagles finished with an overall record of 7-4 and in third place in Class AAA region two. The Eagles lost in the first round of the Class AAA playoffs to Bessemer Academy by a score of 49-6. Lee-Scott Academy and Fort Dale Academy have met a total of 13 times on the football field. The Warriors have a 5-8-0 record against the Eagles. They last met in 2017 with Fort Dale Academy winning by a score of 25-13. Lee-Scott Academy returns AISA All-State offensive lineman Chasen Earnhart. He was named to the first team last season. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
