2022 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Davidson finished the 2021 season with a disappointing 3-7 record. Last year Davidson finished sixth in Class 7A region one with a 3-5 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. The defense allowed a team record 359 points last season. Davidson struggled on the defensive side of the football last year. The defense found little success in stopping opposing offenses as they gave up an average of 35.9 points a game. The Warriors would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 4-16 record. Since 2010, Davidson has gone a combined 69-59. Their 53.9% winning percentage ranks 15th in Class 7A over the past twelve seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Davidson has managed to compile a record of 164-112. Their 59.0% winning percentage ranks 10th in Class 7A and 104th in the AHSAA. The Warriors are led by head coach Rick Cauley who is entering his fourth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 7-23 over the past three seasons at Davidson. The Warriors have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Cauley. Coach Cauley's overall record as a head football coach in seven season stands at 27-46 (37.0%). Over the course of his career, Coach Cauley's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of three times . DJ Butler is expected to carry the load for the Warriors in 2022 from the running back position. Coach Cauley has a ton of faith in the junior. The Davidson Warriors will play in Class 7A region one during the 2022 season. With a little luck and some improvement, the Warriors could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region one this season. Davidson has failed to qualify for the playoffs since 2018 but hope to return to the post season this year. The Warriors open the 2022 season on the road against non-region opponent Hillcrest Evergreen on Friday, August 26 at Brooks Memorial Stadium. Last year the Hillcrest Evergreen Jaguars finished with an overall record of 7-6 and in second place in Class 3A region one. The Jaguars lost in the quarter-finals round of the Class 3A playoffs to Catholic Montgomery by a score of 41-6. Davidson and Hillcrest Evergreen have met a total of 2 times on the football field. The Warriors have a 1-1-0 record against the Jaguars. They last met in with | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
