 2022 Preview

Foley completed the 2021 season with a 5-5 record. Last year Foley just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 7A region one with a 4-4 region record.

The Lions improved in 2021 with their first winning season since 2017.

Since 2010, Foley has gone a combined 62-68. Their 47.7% winning percentage ranks 20th in Class 7A over the past twelve seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Foley has managed to compile a record of 126-140. Their 47.0% winning percentage ranks 22nd in Class 7A and 222nd in the AHSAA.

The Lions are led by head coach Deric Scott who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 7-12 over the past two seasons at Foley. The Lions have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Scott.

Coach Scott's overall record as a head football coach in seven season stands at 48-33 (59.3%). Over the course of his career, Coach Scott's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of five times and won three region championships.

The Lions appear to be on the verge of something great with the return of some key skill players in Foley. Look for continued improvement this season and hopefully a playoff spot come November.

The Foley Lions will play in Class 7A region one during the 2022 season.

The Lions will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region one this season. Foley has failed to qualify for the playoffs since 2015 but hope to return to the post season this year.

The Lions open the 2022 season on the road against non-region opponent Prattville on Friday, August 19 at Stanley Jenson Stadium. Last year the Prattville Lions finished with an overall record of 7-4 and in third place in Class 7A region two. The Lions lost in the first round of the Class 7A playoffs to Theodore by a score of 30-26.

Foley and Prattville have met a total of 9 times on the football field. The Lions have a 2-7-0 record against the Lions. They last met in 2019 with Prattville winning by a score of 39-0.

Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History

In 1969 the two point conversion was adopted for play following a touchdown. Until that time all conversions were worth one point.
