 2022 Preview 


       Elkmont finished the 2021 season with a disappointing 0-10 record. Last year Elkmont finished seventh in Class 3A region eight with a 0-6 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

       The offense struggled putting points on the score board as Elkmont averaged scoring just 9.1 points a game. The Red Devils also struggled on the defensive side of the football as they found little success in stopping opposing offenses and allowed an average of 44.1 points a game.

       The Red Devils would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 1-19 record. Since 2010, the Elkmont football program has struggled with a record of 31-92.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Elkmont has not won much with a record of 88-171. Their 34.0% winning percentage ranks 51st in Class 3A and 329th in the AHSAA.




       The Red Devils will be under the direction of new head football coach Chris Bunio as they enter the 2022 season.  Coach Bunio was an assistant coach at Chelsea last season.

       The Elkmont Red Devils will play in Class 3A region eight during the 2022 season. Elkmont will face six opponents that reached the playoffs last season.

       The Red Devils enter the 2022 season in the middle of a 10 game losing streak. They would like nothing better than to end the string of losses early in the season.

       This season, the Red Devils will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region eight. After not winning a single game last year, the goal at Elkmont will be to simply win some games.

       The Red Devils open the 2022 season at home against non-region opponent Sheffield on Thursday, August 18 at Boss Hill Stadium. Last year the Sheffield Bulldogs finished with an overall record of 2-8 and in sixth place in Class 2A region eight. The Bulldogs closed out the regular season with a loss to East Lawrence by a score of 37-34.

       Elkmont and Sheffield have met a total of 16 times on the football field. The Red Devils have a 4-12-0 record against the Bulldogs. They last met in 2011 with Sheffield winning by a score of 28-7.
