 2022 Preview 


       Eufaula completed the 2021 season with a 5-6 record. With their 4-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 6A region two, the Tigers earned a spot in the playoffs in 2021. Eufaula's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Hueytown by a score of 50-13.

       Eufaula was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Tigers want to be competitive. They only averaged 18.0 points a game.

       Since 2010, Eufaula has gone a combined 92-46. Their 66.7% winning percentage ranks 11th in Class 5A over the past twelve seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Eufaula has gone a combined 204-87. Their 70.0% winning percentage ranks 6th in Class 5A and 33rd in the AHSAA. The Tigers have been successful on the football field with twenty-one winning seasons during this time.




       The Tigers will be under the direction of new head football coach Jerrell Jernigan as they enter the 2022 season.  Coach Jernigan served as an assistant on the Tigers staff last season.

       The Eufaula Tigers will play in Class 5A region two during the 2022 season. The Tigers may find the schedule slightly easier this season with the move down in classification from Class 6A to 5A. They will compete in region two this year.

       The Tigers should be considered one of the favorites for the region two championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs. The Tigers have successfully qualified for the playoffs every year since 1997 and expect to be included again when November rolls around.

       The Tigers open the 2022 season at home against non-region opponent Stanhope Elmore on Friday, August 26 at Tigers Stadium. Last year the Stanhope Elmore Mustangs finished with an overall record of 5-5 and in fifth place in Class 6A region three. The Mustangs ended last season on a positive note with a win over Smiths Station by a score of 31-25 after failing to gain a playoff spot.

       Eufaula and Stanhope Elmore have met a total of 17 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 9-8-0 record against the Mustangs. They last met in 2021 with Stanhope Elmore winning by a score of 24-20.

       Eufaula returns 6A All-State Senior offensive lineman Patrick Screws. He was named to the second team last season. The Tigers also return Senior defensive lineman Yhonzae Pierre. He was named to the first team.
