Flomaton completed the 2021 season with a 6-4 record. With their 3-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 3A region one, the Hurricanes earned a spot in the playoffs in 2021. Flomaton's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Montgomery Academy by a score of 35-7. Since 2010, Flomaton has gone a combined 89-49. Their 64.5% winning percentage ranks 13th in Class 3A over the past twelve seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Flomaton has managed to compile a record of 156-117. Their 57.0% winning percentage ranks 22nd in Class 3A and 120th in the AHSAA. The Hurricanes are led by head coach Doug Vickery Jr. who is entering his seventeenth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 114-66 over the past sixteen seasons at Flomaton. Under his direction the Hurricanes have qualified for the playoffs a total of nine times. They have won one region crown with Coach Vickery Jr.. Coach Vickery Jr. led to a state championship in 2018. Coach Vickery Jr.'s overall record as a head football coach in twenty-two season stands at 140-104 (57.4%). His 140 wins rank 31st among active coaches in the AHSAA. Over the course of his career, Coach Vickery Jr.'s teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of thirteen times and won one region championship. The Flomaton Hurricanes will play in Class 3A region one during the 2022 season. Overall, the region is among the weakest in the state. Qualifying for one of the playoffs spots could be a little easier. The Hurricanes will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region one this season. The Hurricanes open the 2022 season at home against non-region opponent St. Lukes on Friday, August 19 at Hurricane Field. Last year the St. Lukes Wildcats finished with an overall record of 1-9 and in sixth place in Class 2A region one. The Wildcats closed out the regular season with a loss to Cottage Hill Christian by a score of 17-12. Flomaton and St. Lukes have met a total of 3 times on the football field. The Hurricanes have a 3-0-0 record against the Wildcats. They last met in 2015 with Flomaton winning by a score of 33-28. Flomaton returns 3A All-State Senior defensive back Deontay Averitt.
