2022 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Thomasville completed the 2021 season with a 5-6 record. With their 4-2 region record and a third place finish in Class 3A region three, the Tigers earned a spot in the playoffs in 2021. Thomasville's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Hillcrest Evergreen by a score of 27-19. The Tigers hope to rebound after a down year. Last season they struggled winning just five games which followed a 10-2 record in 2020. Since 2010, Thomasville has gone a combined 93-46. Their 66.9% winning percentage ranks 10th in Class 3A over the past twelve seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Thomasville has gone a combined 204-91. Their 69.0% winning percentage ranks 4th in Class 3A and 41st in the AHSAA. The Tigers will be under the direction of new head football coach Clint Anderson as they enter the 2022 season. Coach Anderson was an assistant coach on the staff at Thomasville last season. The Thomasville Tigers will play in Class 3A region one during the 2022 season. Following realignment, the Tigers remain in 3A but move from region three over to region one. The Tigers should be in contention for a playoff spot in region one this season. They will be looking to gain an advantage by hosting a first round postseason game. The Tigers open the 2022 season at home against non-region opponent Sweet Water on Friday, August 26 at Anderson Field. Last year the Sweet Water Bulldogs finished with an overall record of 14-0 and in first place in Class 1A region two. The Bulldogs won the Class 1A State Championship last season when they defeated Wadley by a score of 40-16 in the Super Seven finals in Birmingham. Thomasville and Sweet Water have met a total of 79 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 64-14-1 record against the Bulldogs. They last met in 2021 with Sweet Water winning by a score of 13-7. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
