2022 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Greene County completed the 2021 season with a 5-6 record. With their 4-2 region record and a third place finish in Class 2A region one, the Tigers earned a spot in the playoffs in 2021. Greene County's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Luverne by a score of 41-6. It marked the first time since the 2011 season that the Tigers qualified for the playoffs. The Tigers last playoff victory came during the 2000 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win. The Tigers hope to continue the success they had last season. Coach Coleman saw improvement as they won five games following a 0-10 record in 2020. Greene County was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Tigers want to be competitive. They only averaged 14.8 points a game. Since 2010, Greene County has gone a combined 38-82. Their 31.7% winning percentage ranks 48th in Class 2A over the past twelve seasons. Over the past 22 seasons, Greene County has managed to compile a record of 84-139. Their 38.0% winning percentage ranks 46th in Class 2A and 306th in the AHSAA. The Tigers are led by head coach KaRon Coleman who is entering his sixth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 16-34 over the past five seasons at Greene County. Under his direction the Tigers have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Coleman. Coach Coleman's overall record as a head football coach in five season stands at 16-34 (32.0%). The Greene County Tigers will play in Class 2A region five during the 2022 season. Following realignment, the Tigers remain in 2A but move from region one over to region five. It will be an uphill battle for the Tigers if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region five this season. The Tigers open the 2022 season at home against non-region opponent Greensboro on Friday, August 19 at Greene County Stadium. Last year the Greensboro Raiders finished with an overall record of 4-6 and in fifth place in Class 3A region three. The Raiders ended last season on a positive note with a win over Greene County by a score of 20-18 after failing to gain a playoff spot. Greene County and Greensboro have met a total of 12 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 4-8-0 record against the Raiders. They last met in 2021 with Greensboro winning by a score of 20-18. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
