Lynn finished the 2021 season with a disappointing 2-8 record. Last year Lynn finished eighth in Class 1A region six with a 0-7 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. The Bears lost as many games as in any season since 2015. Since 2010, Lynn has gone a combined 64-63. Their 50.4% winning percentage ranks 27th in Class 1A over the past twelve seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Lynn has managed to compile a record of 146-127. Their 54.0% winning percentage ranks 19th in Class 1A and 153rd in the AHSAA. The Bears are led by head coach Mark Hastings who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 2-8 record in his first season at Lynn. The Bears have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Hastings. Coach Hastings' overall record as a head football coach in twenty-three season stands at 128-119 (51.8%). His 128 wins rank 40th among active coaches in the AHSAA. Over the course of his career, Coach Hastings' teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of thirteen times and won two region championships. The Lynn Bears will play in Class 1A region five during the 2022 season. Following realignment, the Bears remain in 1A but move from region six over to region five. This season, the Bears will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region five. The Bears open the 2022 season on the road against region opponent Marion County on Friday, August 26 at Don Jones Field at Bill Rayburn Staduim. Last year the Marion County Red Raiders finished with an overall record of 7-4 and in fourth place in Class 1A region six. The Red Raiders lost in the first round of the Class 1A playoffs to Decatur Heritage Christian by a score of 48-28. Lynn and Marion County have met a total of 34 times on the football field.
