2022 Preview | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
A.L. Johnson finished the 2021 season with a disappointing 0-9 record. Last year A.L. Johnson finished sixth in Class 1A region three with a 0-6 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. The offense struggled putting points on the score board as A.L. Johnson averaged scoring just 3.1 points a game. The Eagles also struggled on the defensive side of the football as they found little success in stopping opposing offenses and allowed an average of 41.8 points a game. The Eagles would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 0-16 record. Since 2010, A.L. Johnson has gone a combined 38-79. Their 32.5% winning percentage ranks 44th in Class 1A over the past twelve seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, A.L. Johnson has managed to compile a record of 107-147. Their 42.0% winning percentage ranks 36th in Class 1A and 265th in the AHSAA. The Eagles are led by head coach Eugene Foster who is entering his fourth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 0-25 over the past three seasons at A.L. Johnson. The Eagles have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Foster. The A.L. Johnson Eagles will play in Class 1A region three during the 2022 season. The Eagles enter the 2022 season in the middle of a 28 game losing streak. They would like nothing better than to end the string of losses early in the season. This season, the Eagles will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region three. After not winning a single game last year, the goal at A.L. Johnson will be to simply win some games. A.L. Johnson simply does not have the numbers to be competitive on the football field at this time. With just 45 students, the Eagles are one of the smallest schools playing the game and have little chance of being successful. The Eagles open the 2022 season on the road against non-region opponent Pleasant Home on Friday, August 19 at Pleasant Home Stadium. Last year the Pleasant Home Eagles finished with an overall record of 1-9 and in seventh place in Class 1A region one. The Eagles closed out the regular season with a loss to Zion Chapel by a score of 39-24. A.L. Johnson and Pleasant Home have met a total of 2 times on the football field. The Eagles have a 0-2-0 record against the Eagles. They last met in with | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
