 2022 Preview 


       Brooks completed the 2021 season with a 12-1 record. The Lions cruised through the regular season with a perfect 10-0 record going into the post season. Last year Brooks captured the region eight title and a number one seed in the Class 4A playoffs. They finished region play with a 7-0 record. Brooks lost in the quarter-finals of the playoffs last season to a good Oneonta team by a score of 56-28.

       No team at Brooks ever won more games in a season than the twelve victories last year. The last time they won as many was back in 2007. The Lions hope to continue the success they had last season. Coach Bowens saw improvement as they won twelve games following a 6-5 record in 2020.

       Since 2010, Brooks has gone a combined 96-42. Their 69.6% winning percentage ranks 7th in Class 4A over the past twelve seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Brooks has gone a combined 201-89. Their 69.0% winning percentage ranks 4th in Class 4A and 40th in the AHSAA. The Lions have been successful on the football field with twenty-three winning seasons during this time. Their last losing season was 1998.




       The Lions will be under the direction of new head football coach Tim Bowens as they enter the 2022 season.  Coach Bowens served as the head coach at Clark University last season.

       Coach Bowens' overall record as a head football coach in one season stands at 7-4 (63.6%). Over the course of his career, Coach Bowens' teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of one time .

       The Brooks Lions will play in Class 4A region seven during the 2022 season. Following realignment, the Lions remain in 4A but move from region eight over to region seven.

       The Lions enter the 2022 season riding a 14 game regular season winning streak. Brooks has won 10 consecutive region games.

       The Lions should be considered one of the favorites for the region seven championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs. The Lions have successfully qualified for the playoffs every year since 2014 and expect to be included again when November rolls around.

       The Lions open the 2022 season on the road against non-region opponent Colbert County on Thursday, August 18 at C.T. Manley Stadium. Last year the Colbert County Indians finished with an overall record of 6-5 and in third place in Class 2A region eight. The Indians lost in the first round of the Class 2A playoffs to Cleveland by a score of 35-7.

       Brooks and Colbert County have met a total of 15 times on the football field. The Lions have a 5-10-0 record against the Indians. They last met in 2021 with Brooks winning by a score of 16-7.

Thomasville scored 54 points against Gulf Shores in the first quarter of a game in 2003. They managed to hang on for an 81-14 win.
