Cottonwood completed the 2021 season with a 5-5 record. Last year Cottonwood just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 2A region two with a 3-4 region record. Since 2010, Cottonwood has gone a combined 56-69. Their 44.8% winning percentage ranks 34th in Class 2A over the past twelve seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Cottonwood has managed to compile a record of 148-130. Their 53.0% winning percentage ranks 16th in Class 2A and 161st in the AHSAA. The Bears are led by head coach Dustin Harrison who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 7-12 over the past two seasons at Cottonwood. The Bears have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Harrison. Coach Harrison's overall record as a head football coach in five season stands at 21-30 (41.2%). Over the course of his career, Coach Harrison's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times . The Cottonwood Bears will play in Class 2A region two during the 2022 season. With a little luck and some improvement, the Bears could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region two this season. Cottonwood has failed to qualify for the playoffs since 2014 but hope to return to the post season this year. The Bears open the 2022 season at home against non-region opponent Northside Methodist Academy on Thursday, August 25 at Hicks Stadium. Last year the Northside Methodist Academy Knights finished with an overall record of 3-7 and in place in Class Ind region sixteen. The Knights ended last season on a positive note with a win over Ashford by a score of 12-8 after failing to gain a playoff spot. Cottonwood and Northside Methodist Academy have met a total of 4 times on the football field. The Bears have a 2-2-0 record against the Knights.
