Hanceville finished the 2021 season with a disappointing 3-7 record. Last year Hanceville finished seventh in Class 4A region six with a 0-6 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. The Bulldogs last playoff victory came during the 1995 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win. Hanceville was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Bulldogs want to be competitive. They only averaged 16.2 points a game. Since 2010, Hanceville has gone a combined 48-75. Their 39.0% winning percentage ranks 44th in Class 4A over the past twelve seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Hanceville has managed to compile a record of 90-167. Their 35.0% winning percentage ranks 49th in Class 4A and 321st in the AHSAA. The Bulldogs are led by head coach Ryan Brewer who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 3-7 record in his first season at Hanceville. The Bulldogs saw improvement from a 2-8 record the season before coach Brewer arrived. The Bulldogs have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Brewer. Coach Brewer's overall record as a head football coach in one season stands at 3-7 (30.0%). The Hanceville Bulldogs will play in Class 4A region six during the 2022 season. It will be an uphill battle for the Bulldogs if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region six this season. The Bulldogs open the 2022 season on the road against non-region opponent Brewer on Friday, August 19 at James Tucker Stadium. Last year the Brewer Patriots finished with an overall record of 2-8 and in sixth place in Class 5A region eight. Hanceville and Brewer have met a total of 18 times on the football field.
