2022 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Parker completed the 2021 season with a 11-2 record. With their 6-1 region record and a second place finish in Class 5A region five, the Thundering Herd earned a spot in the playoffs in 2021. Parker lost in the quarter-finals of the playoffs last season to a good Fairview team by a score of 44-27. The Thundering Herd won as many games as in any season since 1980. The 514 points scored by the Thundering Herd last year were a team record in a single season. The Thundering Herd hope to continue the success they had last season. Coach Warren saw improvement as they won eleven games following a 6-5 record in 2020. Since 2010, Parker has gone a combined 67-62. Their 51.9% winning percentage ranks 32nd in Class 6A over the past twelve seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Parker has managed to compile a record of 142-127. Their 53.0% winning percentage ranks 34th in Class 6A and 158th in the AHSAA. The Thundering Herd are led by head coach Frank Warren who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 17-7 over the past two seasons at Parker. Under his direction the Thundering Herd have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Warren. Coach Warren's overall record as a head football coach in two season stands at 17-7 (70.8%). The Thundering Herd enjoyed their best season ever last year. Coach Warren would like nothing better than to top the eleven wins from a year ago. Khalifa Keith will lead the running attack then continue his career at Kentucky. The Parker Thundering Herd will play in Class 6A region five during the 2022 season. The Thundering Herd move up in classification to Class 6A. They may find the going slightly tougher with the move. Parker enters the 2022 season with a string of 6 consecutive wins on their home field at Major Brown Memorial Stadium. The Thundering Herd should be in contention for a playoff spot in region five this season. They will be looking to gain an advantage by hosting a first round postseason game. The Thundering Herd open the 2022 season on the road against non-region opponent Fairfield on Friday, August 19 at Clements Field. Last year the Fairfield Tigers finished with an overall record of 7-4 and in third place in Class 5A region five. The Tigers lost in the first round of the Class 5A playoffs to Fairview by a score of 30-28. Parker and Fairfield have met a total of 20 times on the football field. The Thundering Herd have a 9-11-0 record against the Tigers. They last met in 2021 with Parker winning by a score of 40-30. Parker returns 5A All-State Senior running back Khalifa Keith. He was named to the second team last season. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
