Sumter Central finished the 2021 season with a disappointing 0-9 record. Last year Sumter Central finished eighth in Class 4A region three with a 0-7 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. The Jaguars have not qualified for the playoffs since the 2011 season and would love to end that streak this year. They have never won a playoff game in the school's history. The offense struggled putting points on the score board as Sumter Central averaged scoring just 1.3 points a game. The Jaguars would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 0-20 record. Sumter Central is a relatively new football program having fielded a team only eleven seasons. They have managed a record of 15-95 over the past eleven years. Over the past 11 seasons, Sumter Central has not won much with a record of 15-95. Their 14.0% winning percentage ranks 58th in Class 3A and 387th in the AHSAA. The Jaguars have struggled on the football field with no winning seasons during this time. The Jaguars are led by head coach Scottie Jones who is entering his fourth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 1-29 over the past three seasons at Sumter Central. The Jaguars have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Jones. Coach Jones' overall record as a head football coach in ten season stands at 25-73 (25.5%). Over the course of his career, Coach Jones' teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of one time . The Sumter Central Jaguars will play in Class 3A region three during the 2022 season. The Jaguars may find the schedule slightly easier this season with the move down in classification from Class 4A to 3A. They will compete in region three this year. The Jaguars enter the 2022 season in the middle of a 23 game losing streak. They would like nothing better than to end the string of losses early in the season. This season, the Jaguars will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region three. After not winning a single game last year, the goal at Sumter Central will be to simply win some games. The Jaguars open the 2022 season on the road against non-region opponent Wilcox Central on Friday, August 19 at Wilcox Central Jaguars Athletic Complex. Last year the Wilcox Central Jaguars finished with an overall record of 1-9 and in seventh place in Class 4A region three. Sumter Central and Wilcox Central have met a total of 5 times on the football field. The Jaguars have a 2-3-0 record against the Jaguars.
