Cullman completed the 2022 season with a 7-4 record. With their 2-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 6A region seven, the Bearcats earned a spot in the playoffs in 2022. Cullman's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Gadsden City by a score of 41-24. Since 2010, Cullman has gone a combined 89-58. Their 60.5% winning percentage ranks 21st in Class 6A over the past thirteen seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Cullman has finished a combined 194-95. Their 67.0% winning percentage ranks 12th in Class 6A and 56th in the AHSAA. The Bearcats have been successful on the football field with twenty-four winning seasons during this time. The Bearcats will be under the direction of new head football coach Danny Stiff as they enter the 2023 season. Coach Stiff most recently coached at Hoover High School, and previously coached at Hueytown High School, Spain Park High School and Gadsden City High School. The Bearcats have one of the toughest overall schedules in Class 6A. Their opponents had a combined record of 65-47 last season. That ranks 6th in Class 6A and 46th in the AHSAA. The Bearcats have a good shot at one of the last two playoff slots in region seven this season. The Bearcats open the 2023 season at home against non-region opponent Mars Hill on Thursday, August 24 at Woodard Stadium. Last year the Mars Hill Panthers finished with an overall record of 10-2 and in first place in Class 3A region eight. The Panthers lost in the second round of the Class 3A playoffs to Geraldine by a score of 17-14. Cullman and Mars Hill have met a total of 4 times on the football field.
