Munford completed the 2022 season with a 6-5 record. With their 3-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 4A region four, the Lions earned a spot in the playoffs in 2022. Munford's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to American Christian by a score of 16-13. It marked the first time since the 2017 season that the Lions qualified for the playoffs. Since 2010, Munford has gone a combined 84-62. Their 57.5% winning percentage ranks 18th in Class 4A over the past thirteen seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Munford has managed to compile a record of 127-142. Their 47.0% winning percentage ranks 36th in Class 4A and 216th in the AHSAA. The Lions are led by head coach Michael Easley who is entering his fifth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 19-22 over the past four seasons at Munford. Under his direction the Lions have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Easley. The Lions could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region four this season with a few breaks and a little improvement. Unfortunately, Munford finds themselves in a very competitive region with other playoff quality teams. They may need to pull off an upset or two to have any chance at the postseason. The Lions open the 2023 season at home against non-region opponent Childersburg on Friday, August 25 at Munford Stadium. Last year the Childersburg Tigers finished with an overall record of 1-9 and in sixth place in Class 3A region four. The Tigers closed out the regular season with a loss to Winterboro by a score of 38-21. Munford and Childersburg have met a total of 31 times on the football field. The Lions have a 15-16-0 record against the Tigers. They last met in 2022 with Munford winning by a score of 28-14. Munford lost 4A All-State athlete Sylvester Smith to graduation.
