2023 Preview | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Pinson Valley completed the 2022 season with a 6-4 record. With their 4-2 region record and a third place finish in Class 6A region six, the Indians earned a spot in the playoffs in 2022. Pinson Valley's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Mountain Brook by a score of 49-7. Since 2010, Pinson Valley has gone a combined 114-46. Their 71.3% winning percentage ranks 12th in Class 6A over the past thirteen seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Pinson Valley has managed to compile a record of 175-114. Their 61.0% winning percentage ranks 18th in Class 6A and 84th in the AHSAA. The Indians will be under the direction of new head football coach Gentrell Eatman as they enter the 2023 season. Coach Eatman takes over the reins at Pinson Valley after spending the last three at nearby Woodlawn. He led his team to six wins last year which is a great showing at Woodlawn. The Indians should be in contention for a playoff spot in region six this season. Hosting a first round playoff game on their home turf would be an advantage. They have reached the playoffs every year since 2009 and will once again be in the hunt for a spot in 2023. The Indians open the 2023 season at home against non-region opponent Florence on Friday, August 25 at Willie Adams Stadium. Last year the Florence Falcons finished with an overall record of 8-3 and in second place in Class 7A region four. The Falcons lost in the first round of the Class 7A playoffs to Hewitt-Trussville by a score of 38-20. Pinson Valley and Florence have met a total of 3 times on the football field. The Indians have a 2-1-0 record against the Falcons. They last met in 2022 with Florence winning by a score of 17-27. Pinson Valley lost 6A All-State defensive lineman Zikeith Springfield to graduation. He was named to the second team last season. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
