 2023 Preview 


       Florence completed the 2022 season with a 8-3 record. With their 6-1 region record and a second place finish in Class 7A region four, the Falcons earned a spot in the playoffs in 2022. Florence's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Hewitt-Trussville by a score of 38-20.

       The Falcons won as many games as in any season since 2014.

       Since 2010, Florence has gone a combined 78-66. Their 54.2% winning percentage ranks 14th in Class 7A over the past thirteen seasons.

       Over the past 19 seasons, Florence has managed to compile a record of 115-94. Their 55.0% winning percentage ranks 16th in Class 7A and 139th in the AHSAA.




       The Falcons are led by head coach Kenny Morson who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 8-3 record in his first season at Florence. The Falcons saw improvement from a 5-6 record the season before coach Morson arrived. Under his direction the Falcons have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Morson.

       The Falcons enter the 2023 season riding a 6 game regular season winning streak.

       The Falcons are considered one of the favorites for the region four championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs.

       The Falcons open the 2023 season on the road against non-region opponent Pinson Valley on Friday, August 25 at Willie Adams Stadium. Last year the Pinson Valley Indians finished with an overall record of 6-4 and in third place in Class 6A region six. The Indians lost in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs to Mountain Brook by a score of 49-7.

       Florence and Pinson Valley have met a total of 3 times on the football field. The Falcons have a 1-2-0 record against the Indians. They last met in 2022 with Florence winning by a score of 17-27.

       Florence lost 7A All-State  defensive back Jahlil Hurley to graduation. He was named to the first team last season.
