Southern Christian finished the 2022 season with a disappointing 3-6 record. No team at Southern Christian ever won more games in a season than the three victories last year. The 235 points scored by the Patriots last year were a team record in a single season. The defense allowed a team record 291 points last season. The Patriots would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 4-12 record. Southern Christian is a relatively new football program having fielded a team only three seasons. They have managed a record of 6-17 over the past three years. His 3674 wins rank 1st among active coaches in the . Over the course of his career, Coach 's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of times and won two region championships. Coach won eight state championships prior to arriving at Southern Christian, the last coming in 2012 at Faith Christian Roanoke. The Patriots open the 2023 season on the road against non-region opponent J.U. Blacksher on Friday, September 1 at John M. Sawyer Memorial Stadium. Last year the J.U. Blacksher Bulldogs finished with an overall record of 7-4 and in second place in Class 2A region one. The Bulldogs lost in the first round of the Class 2A playoffs to Wicksburg by a score of 34-7.
