Thomasville completed the 2022 season with a 9-4 record. With their 5-2 region record and a second place finish in Class 3A region one, the Tigers earned a spot in the playoffs in 2022. Thomasville lost in the quarter-finals of the playoffs last season to a good St. James team by a score of 40-15. The defense was very stingy last season as Thomasville ranked 32nd in the AHSAA. The defense allowed only 14.4 points a game. Since 2010, Thomasville has gone a combined 102-50. Their 67.1% winning percentage ranks 10th in Class 3A over the past thirteen seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Thomasville has finished a combined 208-89. Their 70.0% winning percentage ranks 4th in Class 3A and 36th in the AHSAA. The Tigers are led by head coach Clint Anderson who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 9-4 record in his first season at Thomasville. The Tigers saw improvement from a 5-6 record the season before coach Anderson arrived. Under his direction the Tigers have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Anderson. The Tigers are considered one of the favorites for the region one championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs. The Tigers open the 2023 season on the road against non-region opponent Sweet Water on Friday, September 1 at Nolan Atkins Stadium. Last year the Sweet Water Bulldogs finished with an overall record of 8-3 and in second place in Class 1A region three. The Bulldogs lost in the quarter-finals round of the Class 1A playoffs to Millry by a score of 41-6. Thomasville and Sweet Water have met a total of 79 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 64-14-1 record against the Bulldogs. They last met in 2022 with Thomasville winning by a score of 34-0. Thomasville lost 3A All-State linebacker Jacoby Holt to graduation. He was named to the second team last season. The Tigers return 3A All-State Senior linebacker Ace Thompson.
