2023 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
A.L. Johnson finished the 2022 season with a disappointing 0-10 record. Last year A.L. Johnson finished seventh in Class 1A region three with a 0-6 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. The Eagles lost as many games as in any season since 2002. The defense allowed a team record 527 points last season. The offense struggled putting points on the score board as A.L. Johnson averaged scoring just 4.2 points a game. The Eagles also struggled on the defensive side of the football as they found little success in stopping opposing offenses and allowed an average of 52.7 points a game. The Eagles would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 0-19 record. Since 2010, A.L. Johnson has gone a combined 38-89. Their 29.9% winning percentage ranks 49th in Class 1A over the past thirteen seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, A.L. Johnson has managed to compile a record of 104-150. Their 41.0% winning percentage ranks 38th in Class 1A and 276th in the AHSAA. The Eagles will be under the direction of new head football coach Migeual Catlin as they enter the 2023 season. Coach overall record as a head football coach in Alabama for one stands at 0-10 (%). The Eagles enter the 2023 season in the middle of a 38 game losing streak. They would like nothing better than to end the string of losses early in the season. This season, the Eagles will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region three. After not winning a single game last year, the goal at A.L. Johnson will be to simply win some games. A.L. Johnson simply does not have the numbers to be competitive on the football field at this time. With just 45 students, the Eagles are one of the smallest schools playing the game and have little chance of being successful. The Eagles open the 2023 season at home against non-region opponent Pleasant Home on Friday, August 25 at A.L. Johnson Stadium. Last year the Pleasant Home Eagles finished with an overall record of 2-8 and in eighth place in Class 1A region two. The Eagles closed out the regular season with a loss to Georgiana by a score of 60-14. A.L. Johnson and Pleasant Home have met a total of 2 times on the football field. The Eagles have a 0-2-0 record against the Eagles. They last met in 2022 with Pleasant Home winning by a score of 41-6. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
