Beauregard completed the 2022 season with a 10-2 record. With their 4-1 region record and a second place finish in Class 5A region four, the Hornets earned a spot in the playoffs in 2022. Beauregard reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to UMS-Wright by a score of 48-30. The Hornets improved in 2022 with their first winning season since 2018. It marked the first time since the 2018 season that the Hornets qualified for the playoffs. The Hornets hope to continue the success they had last season. Coach Jones saw improvement as they won ten games following a 4-6 record in 2021. Since 2010, Beauregard has gone a combined 103-46. Their 69.1% winning percentage ranks 7th in Class 5A over the past thirteen seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Beauregard has managed to compile a record of 160-114. Their 58.0% winning percentage ranks 14th in Class 5A and 106th in the AHSAA. The Hornets are led by head coach Justin Jones who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 14-8 over the past two seasons at Beauregard. Under his direction the Hornets have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Jones. Over the course of his career, Coach Jones' teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of seven times . Coach Jones has brought a different culture to Beauregard football the past two seasons. Beauregard enters the 2023 season with a string of 7 consecutive wins on their home field at Hornet Stadium. The Hornets are considered one of the favorites for the region four championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs. Jacori Tarver will be back this season at running back after rushing for 1,309 yards and 14 TDs in 2022. Receiver Javonn Holman will return after grabbing 35 passes for 784 yards and 12 TDs as a junior. The Hornets open the 2023 season on the road against non-region opponent Selma on Thursday, August 24 at Memorial Stadium. Last year the Selma Saints finished with an overall record of 7-4 and in second place in Class 5A region three. The Saints lost in the first round of the Class 5A playoffs to Tallassee by a score of 49-16. Beauregard and Selma have met a total of 2 times on the football field. The Hornets have a 2-0-0 record against the Saints. They last met in 2022 with Beauregard winning by a score of 21-16. Beauregard lost 5A All-State defensive back Kyan Maloy to graduation. He was named to the first team last season. The Hornets return 5A All-State Senior running back Jacori Tarver.
