2023 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Brookwood completed the 2022 season with a 4-6 record. Last year Brookwood just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 6A region four with a 2-5 region record. The Panthers won as many games as in any season since 2016. The Panthers have not qualified for the playoffs since the 2011 season and would love to end that streak this year. They have never won a playoff game in the school's history. Brookwood was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Panthers want to be competitive. They only averaged 19.0 points a game. Since 2010, Brookwood has gone a combined 41-90. Their 31.3% winning percentage ranks 51st in Class 6A over the past thirteen seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Brookwood has not won much with a record of 66-186. Their 26.0% winning percentage ranks 54th in Class 6A and 367th in the AHSAA. The Panthers have struggled on the football field with only three winning seasons during this time. The Panthers are led by head coach Mike Bramblett who is entering his fifth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 11-29 over the past four seasons at Brookwood. The Panthers have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Bramblett. The Panthers could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region four this season with a few breaks and a little improvement. Brookwood has failed to qualify for the playoffs since 2011 but hope to return to the post season this year. William Sanders will return to anchor the offensive line in 2023. The Panthers open the 2023 season on the road against non-region opponent Holt on Friday, August 25 at Woody Clements Field. Last year the Holt Ironmen finished with an overall record of 0-10 and in eighth place in Class 4A region three. The Ironmen closed out the regular season with a loss to Tuscaloosa Academy by a score of 41-6. Brookwood and Holt have met a total of 83 times on the football field. The Panthers have a 25-58-0 record against the Ironmen. They last met in 2022 with Brookwood winning by a score of 59-2. The Panthers return 6A All-State Senior offensive lineman William Sanders. He was named to the second team last season. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
