2023 Preview | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Meadowview Christian finished the 2022 season with a disappointing 0-12 record. With their 0-5 region record and a sixth place finish in Class AISA-8 Man region one, the Trojans earned a spot in the playoffs in 2022. Meadowview Christian's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Southern Prep Academy by a score of 47-20. The defense allowed a team record 613 points last season. It marked the first time since the 2015 season that the Trojans qualified for the playoffs. The offense struggled putting points on the score board as Meadowview Christian averaged scoring just 5.3 points a game. The Trojans also struggled on the defensive side of the football as they found little success in stopping opposing offenses and allowed an average of 51.1 points a game. The Trojans would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 0-21 record. Since 2010, the Meadowview Christian football program has struggled with a record of 18-106. Over the past 25 seasons, Meadowview Christian has not won much with a record of 58-192. Their 23.0% winning percentage ranks 6th in Class AISA-8 Man and 379th in the AHSAA. The Trojans will be under the direction of new head football coach Vacant as they enter the 2023 season. The Trojans enter the 2023 season in the middle of a 52 game losing streak. They would like nothing better than to end the string of losses early in the season. The Trojans open the 2023 season on the road against non-region opponent Southern Academy on Friday, August 25 at Lawson Field. Last year the Southern Academy Cougars finished with an overall record of 5-6 and in third place in Class A region one. The Cougars lost in the semi-finals round of the Class A playoffs to Lowndes Academy by a score of 35-0. Meadowview Christian and Southern Academy have met a total of 18 times on the football field. The Trojans have a 3-15-0 record against the Cougars. They last met in 2022 with Southern Academy winning by a score of 46-6. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
